PSMS Medan Optimistic to Win Against Sriwijaya FC in the Closing Match of Liga 2 Indonesia First Round
PSMS Medan is optimistic about achieving maximum results in their upcoming match against Sriwijaya FC at Teladan Stadium on Monday (23/10) to close the first round of Liga 2 Indonesia with a victory.
The optimism was expressed by PSMS Medan coach, Miftahudin Mukson, in Medan on Sunday during a press conference prior to the match. According to Miftahudin, if the players are able to execute the tactics, strategies, and gameplan, PSMS Medan can secure a win against their opponent, which will be broadcast live on one of the private television stations.
“In terms of the team’s readiness, we are fully prepared. After returning from Pekanbaru, we have evaluated and created a new gameplan to face Sriwijaya. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly and the players can execute what we have prepared,” said Coach Miftahudin.
With the support of the fans, the coaching staff has also given great motivation to Aziz Hutagalung and his team. With the support of the fans and a good match atmosphere, Coach Miftahudin is optimistic that the hopes of all PSMS Medan supporters can be fulfilled.
“The motivation we provide to the players matches the expectations of the fans and PSMS Medan enthusiasts. We have prepared everything. This is my first home match as a coach for PSMS, but the situation and atmosphere are not unfamiliar anymore. Hopefully, we can better embody what the fans and supporters of PSMS Medan want,” he added.
Having a team supported by good players, Coach Miftahudin, who is also a military officer with the rank of Major (CPM), admitted that he has not faced difficulties in changing the starting lineup. Moreover, the role of substitute players is also expected to contribute to the team’s strength, which will be witnessed in the match against Sriwijaya FC.
“Our team consists of good players. Whether they are in the lineup or coming from the bench, there is not much difference. From the gameplan in training until the end, the most prepared player will be fielded. It doesn’t mean that the substitutes are not ready. Instead, it brings about changes. That’s what we hope for, just like Nico Malau,” he explained.
Furthermore, Miftahudin said that besides tactical changes, the motivation of the players, who carry the name of PSMS on their shoulders, is believed to make them more aggressive and able to achieve victory.
“I have seen Sriwijaya’s tactics in several matches, and this time, they will make changes. I will also make some changes. Sriwijaya is a big team, and PSMS is no less significant. We want to maintain our big name and honor. We understand very well how the Sriwijaya coach approaches the game. Hopefully, our players can anticipate it,” he said.
Meanwhile, PSMS Medan’s key midfielder, Rachmad Hidayat, mentioned that in order to achieve their mission of winning, the team has been training and following the coach’s instructions.
Without being overconfident, Rachmad hopes that PSMS can perform well and achieve maximum results.
“We have trained and followed the coach’s instructions. Hopefully, what we want to happen in the match can come true, and we can achieve maximum results,” he said.

PSMS Medan optimistis memetik hasil maksimal dari tamunya Sriwijaya FC yang akan dihadapi di Stadion Teladan, Senin (23/10) sekaligus menutup Liga 2 Indonesia putaran pertama dengan kemenangan. Rasa optimis itu disampaikan Pelatih PSMS Medan, Miftahudin Mukson di Medan, Minggu, pada sesi temu pers jelang pertandingan.
Menurut Miftah, jika pemain mampu menerjemahkan taktik, strategi, dan rencana permainan (gameplan), kemenangan bisa diraih tim Ayam Kinantan pada pertandingan yang akan disiarkan langsung di salah satu televisi swasta tersebut. “Mengenai kesiapan tim, kami sudah siap semua. Artinya dari kita selesai pulang dari Pekanbaru, kita sudah evaluasi, kita sudah buat gameplan yang baru untuk menghadapi Sriwijaya. Mudah-mudahan bisa berjalan lancar dan semua pemain bisa menjalankan apa yang sudah kita persiapkan,” ujar coach Miftahudin.
Bermodal dukungan suporter, tim pelatih jelang laga kata Miftahudin juga memberikan motivasi yang tidak kalah besar kepada Aziz Hutagalung dkk. Dengan dukungan suporter beserta atmosfer pertandingan yang baik, dia optimistis harapan seluruh pendukung PSMS Medan bisa tercapai.
“Motivasi yang kita berikan kepada pemain sebanding dengan yang diharapkan oleh suporter dan pencinta PSMS Medan. Itu semua kita persiapkan, ini home pertama bagi saya selama melatih PSMS, tapi situasi dan atmosfer sudah bukan asing lagi. Mudah-mudahan nanti kita bisa semakin menjiwai apa yang diinginkan pencinta dan suporter PSMS Medan,” ujarnya.
Memiliki tim yang didukung pemain cukup bagus, pelatih yang juga perwira TNI berpangkat Mayor (CPM) mengaku sejauh ini tak kesulitan merombak pemain starter. Tapi tidak cuma itu, peran pemain pengganti juga tidak kalah memberikan kontribusi untuk kekokohan tim yang di laga kontra Sriwijaya FC juga diharapkan akan terjadi.
“Tim kami dihuni pemain-pemain yang cukup bagus, siapa yang line-up, siapa yang masuk dari cadangan itu bukan berarti ada perbedaan yang jauh. Dari gameplan dari latihan sampai terakhir, pemain yang paling siap yang akan kami turunkan. Bukan berarti cadangan tidak siap Tapi ini justru membuat perubahan. Itu yang kita harapkan seperti hal nya Nico Malau,” katanya.
Lebih lanjut Miftahudin mengatakan, selain perubahan taktik, motivasi pemain yang membawa nama PSMS di pundaknya diyakini akan membuat pemain lebih agresif dan mampu mewujudkan kemenangan. “Saya sudah lihat taktikal Sriwijaya di beberapa laga dan pasti kali ini akan buat perubahan, saya juga akan membuat suatu perubahan. Sriwijaya tim yang besar, dan PSMS tidak kalah besar. Nama besar dan kehormatan itu yang kita pertahankan. Kami paham betul bagaimana pelatih Sriwijaya dengan taktikalnya. Mudah-mudahn bisa diantisipasi oleh anak-anak,” katanya.
Sementara gelandang andalan PSMS Medan, Rachmad Hidayat mengatakan, untuk mewujudkan misi kemenangan, timnya telah menjalani latihan dan menjalankan instruksi pelatih. Tak mau sesumbar, Rachmad berharap PSMS bisa tampil baik dan meraih hasil maksimal. “Sudah latihan, ikuti instruksi pelatih, mudah-mudahan apa yang kita mau nanti di pertandingan terjadi dan kita bisa dapat hasil maksimal,” ucapnya.
